The Follow, Paul Grzegorzek
Quentin Davey stabbed PC Jimmy Holdsworth, leaving him still struggling to regain his health in hospital as the case came to trial. Jimmy’s partner, Gareth Bell is a key witness, and is stunned as the case falls apart when it becomes clear that the vital piece of evidence has been tampered with.
Gareth determines he will seek justice for his friend and colleague but very quickly finds himself on the receiving end of police investigations.
This is a crime story with a difference; from the beginning we know who the perpetrator is, and it looks pretty straight forward to find the required evidence to get justice done, providing Gareth can clear his name. Not surprisingly, things aren’t quite as simple as they first appear, and Gareth finds himself in some very uncomfortable situations.
This is an easy read, despite some pretty gruesome fight scenes, and it holds the attention right to the end. Set in the Brighton and Hove area, it explores the sordid side of live through the drug dealer’s antics. It’s the first book I’ve read by this author, but look forward to reading more.
